Applauding the Rangers

The Texas Rangers made it official yesterday - they have taken back the name of their ballpark. It is now the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. I am a big fan of this move - the corporate sponsored ballpark names lack character and also lack the concept of the team as a "brand." I can understand where the banks are coming from when they give a huge loan and want the ballpark named after them (for example - Comerica Park) but I think that the teams need to collectively stand up and move away from this process.
